My
Story
Pedro Oberto is an engineer, filmmaker & director
based in New York City.
Born and raised in Venezuela, he showed strong leadership qualities from an early age; graduating top 3 from his high school and representing his home state at national events in media & communication. For as long as he can remember, he has been passionate about technology, science and feminine beauty, often drawing feminine faces on the pages of his mathematic textbooks.
After attending the University of Zulia and earning a degree in Petroleum Engineering, Pedro worked in the oil & gas industry for 10 years. With budgets of $5MM per project he designed and constructed Venezuelan oil wells with the highest production quality. Though the experience was formative professionally, Pedro found himself creatively unfulfilled. Passion, beauty, style, visual aesthetic – these were largely absent from the oil industry. He felt called to New York to pursue a very different dream– becoming a filmmaker– which is precisely what he accomplished, both in record time and with immediate success.
The first music video he directed is for international musician Hervé Coeur, called L'Encre De Tes Yeux ("The Ink of Your Eyes"). This debut film was a massive success and resulted in several award wins at the Paris Play Film Festival, the Indo French International Film Festival and the Lacorne Film Festival.
In the documentary world, Pedro has had the opportunity to work with Academy Award nominated director Amy Berg. In fashion, Pedro has worked New York Fashion Week, filming runway shows and directing fashion films for clients like international fashion designer Marc Bouwer.
As an artist, engineer and director, Pedro combined his passions and unique experience in both project management and film to found NYC Visuals LLC; a production company creating digital media solutions across the worlds of documentary, music and fashion. NYC Visuals' mission is to empower brands and businesses around the world.
